Protection of Assets (POA) was completely revised in 2011 and 2012. The basic security concepts haven't changed, but the content has been completely rewritten by over 200 subject matter experts to bring the work into the 21st century. Some of the POA chapters in the original 3-ring binders had not been updated for many years.
If POA is being used to study for the CPP exam, then you should know that the current CPP exam questions are derived from concepts and principles from this edition of POA. By comparison, if one were studying for the bar or medical board certification, the latest legal or medical books would be used, not former editions or dated references.
This new edition of Protection of Assets (2011-12) has been printed in 8 hardcover or softcover volumes and is available in the ASIS Store in several versions:
- Print (as a set of 8 or individually by title);
- Online (a 12 month subscription accessed by Internet); and
- Combination Print and Online.
For mobile device preferences, POA is also available in Amazon's Kindle store in several digital versions (individual titles and 2 Kindle POA books, containing 4 POA volumes each). With free apps for many mobile devices, it is not necessary to own a Kindle device, but one must establish a Kindle account. If this suits your needs, I suggest you browse through Kindle options at Amazon.com
POA is no longer published as a serial and therefore there are no more updates or revisions to file in binders. All previous editions of Protection of Assets Manual in the binder format are considered "out-of-print" and are no longer maintained, updated, or revised. These are no longer a reference for the CPP exam. Please note "Manual" is no longer part of the title of this new edition.
